Hi everyone!
I'd love to read your feedback about the Hungry Wolf beta.
There are no specific questions asked. Just let me know what comes to your mind.
If you need some topics, here is a short list of things that definitely have room for adjustment:
- What do you think about the duration of one session (currently 100sec)?
- How do you like the size of the map?
- What do you think about game speed and stamina consumption / time to sprint?
- How do you like the distribution of PowerUps?
- What do you think about the score distribution of each animal?
- Sheep 5
- Rabbit 20
- Duck 25
- Wisent 50
Feel free to post your feedback in the comments below!
Good hunt!

Game crashed again, i picked a second power up, the green >>>, about 20 sec after picking the green pawn.
(edit :
And again, this time i picked two green >>> in the same run
As written below, it seems to be a linux specific bug. I will look into it!
The crash should be fixed now in the latest version "Beta.2" (just re-download from itch).
The game is not saving my sounds preferences after restart. Running on Linux.
Yep, not saving sounds nor fullscreen option. Linux Manjaro here.
That's a known issue. Will be saved in an upcoming update. Sorry for that.
What a "cute" game :)
From a pure gameplay loop perspective, the game is very fun. I appreciate that I could play it with only the mouse.
On my first run I made over 900 points, without finding any powerups or catching anything other then sheep. I have no idea if that's good or bad, as the highscores were pretty low. On the second run, I got 970 with finding a single powerup up (the sprint one) and catching 2 rabbits. I also wondered to the left, it was almost empty and wasted some of my time.
Basically, I don't see why I would try a third time, as I have no context if my performance was good or bad, or any sense of progress. Perhaps some of the animals or powerups would only appear after achieving some score, or some other unlock system. Anything that would motivate me to actually run again, see if I can do better and be curious how the next unlock/achievement will alter the game.
I will be playing more though, to get a better sense of the balance etc. that you mentioned in the post.
Yeah, definitely I feel that I get more points and fun with just focusing on the sheep and keeping the x8 combo going. I still have not found organically other powerups, and if a killed a different animal it was purely by accident as it was on my path to the next sheep.
I must honestly say 900 on your very first run is huge! As you see in the highscore list most other players gained lower scores by now. So nice job!
The game is not about leveling your wolf or unlocking achievements (as of now). I want it to be a simple arcade game that you play to beat your own or other player's highscore. For this purpose the game has a large enough map with different spots and strategies you can go for. If you already reached #1 in the ranking, you may take a break and check back later. I can assure you there are much higher scores possible! ;)
That being said, I must add that I like the idea of achievements. I think that might fit pretty good into the game. It would be a great feature for a Steam release! I will definitely keep that in mind.
Thanks for taking the time and giving this valuable feedback!
Totally understandable! I think even the achievements would scratch that itch of having some sense how well I'm doing vs how well it could go if I practice/try new things.
Game crashed when i picked the green pawn power up. Just stop and crash to desktop. I’m on Linux PC, Manjaro.
Does it always crash at this spot?
Did you have any other active powerup before you picked up the paw?
I think I can reproduce the crash. It crashed twice for me if I got 2 different power ups in the same run. For example the green one first and then it crashes when taking the red one.
It did not crash if I got two sprint ones, the first one was still active though.
Hmm... That's strange. I'm not able to reproduce it. I tested various overlapping combinations (even 3 in a row) but it did not crash for me.
Can you tell what powerups at what spot (rough direction) caused the crash? Is it reproducable on your machine?
It's totally reproducible. I first go straight down to get the sprint powerup. With it I go up and then left to get this red one:
As soon as I touch it, the game crashes. I also get "Memory protection violation" error in the console, if that helps.
Hi, i did only one run but i think it’s also important to give "hot" feedbacks.
- i don’t like camera zooming in when i sprint, i expect it to stay, or zoom out, but not in
- i find anything not sheep super hard to catch
- i didn’t find any powers
- i think the run was too short, maybe 150 to 200 seconds would feel better than only 100.
- I feel the running speed and stamina consumption are quite right
More later !
